Painting and Drawing Week Long Workshop Itinerary
The learning vacation participants will be given the opportunity to experience the
dramatic landscape of the Gros Morne National Park as well as the rich local culture and
numerous tourist attractions. In addition to the activities described in this itinerary,
walking tours of the gulch area, mountain climbing expeditions, hikes through Western
Brook Gorge, swimming expeditions to the Lomond and Shallow Bay areas, whale watching
tours, and visits to the local Discovery Center will be offered.
This itinerary is intended as a sample. Details are subject to change based on
weather and availability of tours. Workshop content will vary according to medium,
experience and number of participants.
Day 1
- Arrival and check-in to accommodations

Day 2
- Familiarization with materials and painting sites
- Lunch
- Painting and sketching instruction (Gros Morne)
- Evening meal
- Free studio time (optional)
Day 3
- Sketching tour of the town of Woody Point
- Lunch (group lunch included)
- Introduction to landscape painting
- Evening meal
- Free studio time (optional)
Day 4
- Landscape painting techniques
- Lunch
- Boat tour of Trout River Pond
- Evening meal
- Group discussion and work evaluation
Day 5
- Travel to Shallow Bay or Trout River
- Color instruction (Shallow Bay)
- Lunch
- Field painting (Shallow Bay)
- Evening meal
- In-studio critique and tea
Day 6
- Field painting (Tableland mountains)
- Lunch
- Boat tour and sketching instruction (Bonne Bay)
- Evening meal (group dinner included)
- In-studio critique
Day 7
- Completion of ongoing field work
- Lunch
- Studio work and final critique
- Evening meal
- Closing party

- Farewell session and participants depart
